"When the ostrich takes his head out of the sand... what will he see?And what does that ostrich see? A state of being, a state of transition, a real or imaginary place? Maybe the ostrich sees only that which is created by himself, in his imagination. A land into which no one else but he can enter? Or does he see a land of beautiful rivers and deep flowering meadows, where self is no more alone and memories never forgotten. Is that what the ostrich sees? ...or does he see only sand? "What IS enlightenment? Can we describe, define, assessIn my opinion, enlightenment is the place inside us all, where body, mind and spirit work as one, a place where time is not a concept, and there is no such thing as judgment, a place where you (body, mind, spirit), can be together, complete, and enjoy every nanosecond of life that you have left to live, and finally a place of all knowledge. Once this place has been reached, it's magnitude is enough to change anyone, usually for the better, but the change is brought about by oneself.... 7 out of 7 found this valuable. Do you? |

Let's keep this going but I have a suggestion:What are the stages of enlightenment? Surely if we are able to provide a system of progression for people (observations; acts; habits; thoughts, etc) about what enlightenment is, it will mean more. You are describing (one of the) final resting place(s) for a soul, but the journey is more important than the end, is it not? My thought to add to this would be, Enlightenment is found in the moment. 5 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Surely if we are able to provide a system of progression for people (observations; acts; habits; thoughts, etc) about what enlightenment is, it will mean more....a system of progression; a transitional state of being. As in 'leveling up'? If we decide to adapt an operational definition (which is the same as to say that this is the interpretation we use here, of this often used and variously interpreted word, transition...then we would hopefully gain in clarity, when communicating amongst each other? If we choose to see enlightenment as a process; may our chakras (energy centers) provide clarity? The chakra system is 'encapsuled' within our first chakra, the red wheel-like center where 'everything starts'. This is the place where 'prana' (chi/photons) enter our beings, via the base of spine and our feet. Chi kung masters use this chakra (the south, negative/'feminine' pole, of the being) allowing chi to flow from this negative pole and that positive/male pole centered in the guts (solar plexus) which, looking somewhat like a yellowish star, we also call the third chakra. By using this polarity, chi masters allow chi to flow out from their navel and hands; this chi being pure life force then to build healing. The chi master it is said uses the first 3 chakras, the chakras that have to do with the 'I'; that second orange three petaled chakra representing our awareness of self ('me'), the third chakra our awareness as a social being/awareness of the group ('we'). It is said that beings on the path of 'service of self' (control) need to focus on developing these orange and yellow chakras, as they are instrumental (important) for these to 'level up' (ascend). 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Selfs in 'service of others' on the other hand, it is said need develop a balanced 'tonality of light' across all the chakras, also including the ones that does not have to do with the 'self'; that green lotus like 'healing loving' 4th chakra, the blue 5th chakra of 'creativity and inspiration', multiple facettes like a beautiful blue star and that three petaled indigo chakra which is our 'center of faith' and interaction/communication with other dimensions (the pineal gland). Finally not forgetting that violet ray chakra, the crown, a recourse from which, through indigo ray, intelligent infinity may be contacted; the radiation thereof being not so much violet, but rather green, blue or indigo depending upon the nature of intelligence that 'infinity' brings through into discernible energy. The being 'in service of others' in light of these different emanations, radiations of light from our different energy centers, thus may be seen as beautiful tonalities, symphonies of light, refracted through the whole palette, each self having a unique blending of light tonalities. And so, 'enlightenment' may also be described as a 'process', the change in light energy and tonality radiated from the self, when 'growing' as a spiritual being. This change of light tonality will also be observable 'in the real' as changes of habits, thoughts, strength of faith (not religiously speaking), etc. Enlightenment as a process... pls pls pls...correction...in posting above it says...The chakra system is 'encapsuled' within our first chakra, the red wheel-like center where 'everything starts' Should read like this...The chakra system is 'encapsuled' within our first chakra, the red wheel-like center where 'everything starts' ...and that violet crown chakra, the 7th, found at the top of our head, where 'everything meet'. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Very informative. So operationally we may judge enlightenment by the amount of energy we are able to channel through our chakras. Right?I have a feeling that I'm out of line with the natural course of enlightenment: some of my chakras may be much more active than the ones below. For example, I can sometimes feel my pineal gland (a very tingly, eventually electric sensation) but I cannot feel a similar sensation (in that degree) in my heart chakra. It would seem that I need both to be active to access the Third Eye's powers without causing disharmony. I find certain meditations particularly powerful, such as those that center around awareness of your spine and what is below and above it. An example would be one from AscensionHelp.com, leading to the "cosmic flush". In fact, I have one artwork from the website as a background and it reminds me constantly of meditation. Little things like these are my safeguards against falling back in vibration. And to answer the question...to Me, enlightenment is... Greater awareness, motivation and ability to perceive the world, make appropriate judgments and the inner motivation that cannot be stopped by any force save death. A way to see ahead in time to avoid pitfalls for yourself and others. It is indeed a process but one that eventually ends in freedom to do anything with no bad consequences - implying counter-desire for actions that result in disharmony. It is a learning process and there are many paths to consider, but only one is the shortest route for anyone at any point in time. Being on that path is one of my final stages of enlightenment as I understand it. I wonder what everyone else thinks Namaste 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Dear friendsI personally think there are several levels of enlightenment. Each step on this ladder to God is a getting rid of a limiting identification. 1) At first we get rid of the identification with our gross body including the gross sense organs and organs of action, entering 4. density 2) then our ego-mind-complex realizing that one is pure consciousness and can exist without a physical body at all, entering 5-6. density 3) then our subtle body, realizing that we are pure light we enter 6. density 4) then realizing that we are no subject of time and space any more although we still have an individuality 5) then giving up all sense of individuality and becoming one with supreme consciousness 6) nirvana, Paratman, Parabrahman, all creation ceases to exist There are even more steps inbetween and each step can be experienced as an eligtenment, because each step is a step into more light. But when we have such an enlightening experience, we also fall back into lower states of consciousness after some time. But this experience is like making a crack into a dam. It is only a question of time until the dam breakes and we have constant access to this awareness. We go back and forth within this field of consciousness. We live together with beeings to whom our field overlaps with their field. So some men have access to the first level of a higher frequency than our earth and this why benevolent UFOs become more and more visible as global consciousness rises. So to me it seems to be a long long and exciting journey to God with one revelation and uprising after a time of roaming in one level and enjoying it. Then there is the next revelation and so on. The term -God- seems for me to be more a name for a certain direction, since we all have yet no tiny idea of what it really means. Nevertheless we came from there, so we should know. Yes, Vaidyanath. And this is so wonderful. How blessed are we not, to be, right now standing on the very verge of entering into 4th density, the density of 'Love and Compassion'. And after that, multiple thousands years later, we will 'graduate' into that 5th dimension of 'Light' (wisdom). And after spending quite many years there, we will enter the 6th dimension, that dimension of Love/Light (understanding) and be prepared for that final 7th density, the preparation for Christ consciousness'. And after that; who can even guess? Isn't it intriguing to note that this progression is mimicried by the progression within ourselves; our energetic centers, the chakras? As above, so below... Now, the question still remains; is 'enlightenment' the 'journey' or the result of that trip? Or is it something else? 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

How may we experience what you say? I believe your words, but I pretend to need to feel what you say for yourself. Right now I'm listening to the album "10 000 Days" by the band Tool, with the best of other albums mixed in. Adam Jones probably knows what you're talking about, judging by the lyrics. But you, LaL, might appreciate this song particularly, as I do. With lyrics like these.. "Lateralus" - Tool "As below so above and beyond, I imagine Drawn outside the lines of reason. Push the envelope. Watch it bend." "As below so above and beyond I imagine" "Riding on the edge of reason" "Push the envelope" "Watch it bend" What a journey. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. "I have the distinct impression that there is several phases, but in the same sense that there are many more dimensions, an yet we only talk about the 6th mostly at the most, it's only prudent as we are here to speak about two states I feel accessible to us at the time. Enlightened - a disassociated state of pure being-ness from pure consciousness creating completely original actions, thoughts, ideas, concepts; one has removed the tethers and exists in a free state. Illuminated - an Enlightened being has gone a step further and done the esoteric research necessary or had experiences that leave him or her with a new found understanding of the universe that supercedes his or her previous worldview... it has to be noted that this stage is different because of the massive difference between simply understanding the nature of your consciousness enough to free yourself, to understanding the nature of consciousness and the universe and yourself as much as you possibly can from this perspective, with deeply esoteric information... So i feel that also the state of illumination is a gateway into an experiential state, in which all of the theory is put into action.. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |
