how would you interpret these verses?
Sep 9 2008, 1:47 PM EDT
"But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions as the heathen do; for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be ye not therefore like unto them; for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of before ye ask him". (Matt. 6:7, 8.) The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light" Matt.6:22 my interpretation: this in other terms is your energy/spirit/light within, charge your chakras and Pray without words, sending your loving healing vibration/energy/light out to the earth and beyond and heal let me know your thoughts ~~~sending you all healing loving energy~~~ 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Dear friends,God is highly intelligent. In fact He is Knowledge Himself and All-knowing. "Vein repetitions" are useless, because they do not reach Him. Mantra repetition is different, because it is a divine name that is used. Nevertheless the mantra should pervade everything, and be repeated with love, otherwise it is almost useless too. Man has created several parts within himself. Our body, our mind, our heart are the main levels or parts. Most of the times these parts do not want the same at the same time. Our body maybe is hungry, our mind is thinking about a plan for the future and our heart is lonely. This is different in moments of great bliss, deep sorrow or even fear. In these moments all elements of what we call "I" become one. In these moments man has powers he never could imagine to have before and is able to do little wonders. In this kind of union we should pray to God. And when we are able to let go our wishes and surrender totally to His will, it will be heard and we will get an answer for sure. But it is not on us to decide when or how we will get the answer or get our deep wishes fulfilled, but the answer as such is guaranteed. Balasai Baba always reminds us, that when we pray or when we chant Gods name, we shall do it with love. "thine eye be single" One of our eyes is looking outward and one within. Uniting the outer world and the inner one transcends the individuality and the light will shine through the whole body. love Vaidyanath 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

Namaste,I think your right Vaidyanath, Mantra is most definitely out of the question in reference to this, they didn't have too much mantra from what I would guess over there in Byzantium at the time, perhaps they were referring to the whole "Hail mary mother of grace" and all that.. The first verse appears to be commenting and clarifying on the notion of how to communicate with heaven.. The second verse.. lol.. I think we know what that means :D Yes your opinions are amazing as usual Vaidyanath, thanks so much for sharing your wisdom with us we all love you very much love * 1ness 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Nice Vaidyanath, always on point. :)A point also made in the Corpus Hermeticum, not to pray within duality, not to use words as they usually encompass duality. Holy names are the exception. Hence "thine eye be single". This makes perfect sense, and helps the seeker to understand that by using words, one can only convey one side of the story at a time, and to be more effective, one should connect with the essence of what they wish and seek for all, god. (with the exception of holy names, which encompass that which lay beyond duality) Just like in meditation, the experience is not conveyed in words, the way god talks to you is not in words, granted it can be, but Im more specifically talking about when god talks to you on a multidimensional aspect, this is how I think one should in turn communicate, not leaving out any essence of that you so wish to transmit. It helps one to get in tune with understanding what exactly it is they are praying for, as when we try to convert our inner essence to words, it always falls short of what IT truly is. Kinda like, if we see one person as more beautiful than the next, we create ugliness within our selves. Or if we pray for the health of certain people, then we are excluding those we did not mention. I personally send my prayers via internal, but when someone asks me to lead in prayer, I make sure its a nicely wrapped explanation of the all, rather than praying for so and so or such and such, I pray for the liberation of all beings from suffering duality, and give thanks to all situations for the insights they have been in exposing gods ineffable divinity and grace. 6 out of 6 found this valuable. Thanks for all your thoughts. i have so many books and beliefs from the past 45 years now lol the one constant belief was in myself and the Source of my being.Having been exposed to most religions before the age of 11, I saw so many take the same bible and interpret them in many diffrent ways. I was actually kicked out of the last church because I asked to many questions lol questions they could not answer because of their belief system. We are all so programed from birth on how to think and how to react (God Bless our parents for they know not and did the best that they could) that we did not do it for ourselves, well some of us didnt question I could not help but question because of what my eyes were made to see at such a young age:) I am so happy to see others that think out of the box! Many Blssings to you all ~~~sending you all healing loving energy~~~ 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Silent prayer is the most pervasive and direct means of reaching the Christ Consciousness.Be of one eye is often interpreted as the third eye or the brow chakra, which connects to the pineal gland. The scriptures cite this more than once I believe, however orthodoxy is slow to understand it. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Let me sum this up.Do not waste your time with pointless repetitions that mean nothing to yourself. Do not spit sentences that leave your mouth, just to leave. The prayer is always answered when you know it is already there. Let the love flow through a one-way eye. Do you find this valuable? |
