The Ego
It's important to recognize that the Human Being is not a creature of pure Good, or of pure Evil, I think everyone who has had the experience of being here with the Earth can testify to that effect.. If not, you are lying to yourself. There is both "Good" and "Evil" stationed right next to each other on the Qabalistic Tree of Life, signifying that the entirety of Creation is endowed with both the Active and Passive principles. So why then, are we here trying to "conquer the ego"? When you come upon a dead end street when your driving, do you get frustrated and think that you will never get to your destination again? Or do you simply choose a new, more efficient, route? Likewise as we Ascend the Tree of Life, we use our various attributes to bring our Consciousness to a more Evolved Level. The problem is that we, in the West, confuse our Masculine and Feminine Minds, or Consciousness and Mind, the Passive and Active principles of our existence as forms. If we look at the Tree of Life, we see the Three Pillars, one on the left is Active, and Female, the one in the middle is Neutral, a Unified version of the two poles. The User in the center, Kether, the I AM Presence, negotiates his way through the Four Worlds using either poles to attain a Unified Center.

We should therefor not get angry at our ego, but embrace it, for the purpose of Evil has always been to show the Good who they are. To help the Good evolve by knowing which paths not to go down. Everything in the Universe is in balance, and if there was no purpose of Evil it wouldn't exist. This is another thing that we can definitely attest to here with the Earth. Definitely we will appreciate the World To Come by the Evils that have been done to this World and it's inhabitants.
So when you find yourself in Meditation faced with this active aspect of your Self, your Ego, don't think that it's something you need to destroy, just see what it is telling you that you need to do improve yourself by what it is saying to you. When the final, but not yet Ultimate, realization comes that "I AM" is all that is, and you are that, then there will be a dissolution of all maya, you will
be above the level of the ego and not subject to it. The ego is merely a creation of Karma, realizing that there is no one their to hold the Karma effectively dissolves it. You are still subject to the laws of further Karma, but there will be none if you can sustain your Realization. |
