Some time ago I met with this character. He introduced himself, stressing that his name was the same as my name, only backwards. This new friend of mine was full of stories, allegories. And so, here is one of those 'stories' of his.
“Long ago, I drove down to once more visit Elaine, somewhere pretty deep south. On the way there I happened to stop by this old graveyard. Only, this was no ordinary cemetary. I took the old Leica and attempted some shots at it, only to, when coming back from my trip and developing them pictures, find that the whole camera had melted in the attempt..." “You know”, I answered. “I also went to that place, but at night. And I found that marker, too. Impossible to see the writing in all that darkness, I positioned my car so that the headlights of the car shone on the marker. When nearing and attempting to read it, those letters of darkness You mentioned, had lit up by the light. All was of light and in that light one could now read that inscription, which had also become of light, on the marker. “ENO SI LLA” is what it said, there, in that light.” ... |
